Dr. Roberts’ background consists of a double undergraduate major in Biology and Computer Science. This degree combination has resulted in a passion to address human error in the medical field. He believes strongly that technology can provide confidence to patients and physicians to ensure procedures are conducted with the utmost accuracy and precision. It is this passion that led him to create a digital verification tool first of its kind technology used at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. As an expert in this field, Dr. Roberts has lectured multiple times at the Military Refractive Surgery Safety Symposium and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Over the years Dr. Roberts has done over 20,000 treatments and currently performs more weekly refractive surgeries than any surgeon in the D.C. Metro area.

Dr. Roberts is a native Utahn and graduated from the University of Utah with his dual degree. He has a deep love for the Rocky Mountains and visits every winter to ski the slopes of truly the greatest snow on earth. He resides in Silver Spring, Maryland with his wife Amy, three children Lily, Cole and Molly, and his Irish Doodle, Obi.

Ryan L. Roberts, MD is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who has been proudly serving the refractive surgery community in Maryland and Virginia since 2015, in addition to the US Military family and service members since 2004. Dr. Roberts received his medical degree in 2008 from the Uniformed University of the Health Sciences.

Following medical school, Dr. Roberts began a Neurosurgery residency at Walter Reed Medical Center. Following this initial residency, he deployed as a Flights Surgeon to Afghanistan for 12 months with the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade. Although this time did not include training in the world of ophthalmology, Dr. Roberts’ experiences serving those fighting for our country has largely shaped who he is as a physician and person.
