Carter Tisdale, M.D. is an active-duty Air Force Ophthalmologist with expertise in laser refractive surgery (LASIK, PRK, SMILE), ICL surgery, cataract surgery, and eyelid procedures. Dr. Tisdale grew up in Alabama and Tennessee, and he attended Auburn University where he received a degree in Biomedical Sciences with a Minor in Spanish. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 2013 as he began medical school in Alabama. He served as a Combat Search and Rescue Flight Surgeon for three years in Las Vegas, NV. He deployed to the Middle East in 2019 & 2020 where he served as the primary physician for over 200 Rescue helicopter pilots & gunners, C-130 pilots & loadmasters, PJs, and respective maintenance personnel.
After completing his Flight Surgeon tour, Dr. Tisdale served as the Chief Resident in his Ophthalmology residency at Brooke Army Medical Center and Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center in San Antonio, TX. He is currently stationed in Dayton, OH, where he serves as a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist & Refractive Surgeon at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He enjoys performing cataract surgery on military retirees and their family members. He is passionate about providing active-duty servicemembers with pristine uncorrected vision, utilizing LASIK, PRK, SMILE, and ICL surgery. He regularly mentors rotating medical students and physician assistants in partnership with Wright State University.
Dr. Tisdale enjoys getting to know his patients so that he can help them achieve their life goals through vision correction. He believes that improving eyesight is the most amazing gift that modern medicine can give people. Over the last decade Dr. Tisdale has worked as a medical missionary in Africa, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, and Puerto Rico, where he has performed cataract surgeries on blind patients. Dr. Tisdale enjoys traveling, running, playing tennis & golf, spending time with his family and friends, and learning new things! He enjoys attending any and all sporting events, but he is most passionate about college basketball and football.
